Heart City was established by adventurers over generations and generations. Travelers have come to the Goddess’ Repose for many centuries, only to find themselves incapable of opening the Heart Door and attaining the treasure they seek. Eventually, everyone gives up and settles down, to pursue some other line of work. Against all odds, this cycle has produced a functional city, with a variety of colorful characters, all contributing to society in their own way.
Heart City is the hub of this campaign. The central location in which most of the action will take place. There are shops, taverns, restaurants, entertainment venues, and of course, lots and lots of NPCs. What follows is a list of notable locations within the city, in no particular order.

The Stone’s Throw
The Stone’s Throw is a good first location for the players to visit. There is food, drink, lodging, and many friendly patrons. The players can inquire about the city’s history, the adventurers who end up here, and of course, the goddess’ treasure behind the heart door.
At the Sheriff’s Office, characters can collect their weapons, and get a permit to enter Torsoland, provided they have an authorized adventure request from the Adventure Board at the Stone’s Throw.
Law enforcement in Heart City is swift and efficient. Nightwhisper’s incredible mobility enables him to get practically anywhere in the city in a matter of minutes, and can travel even faster at night by teleporting through shadows. Meanwhile, Deputy Stevvik has ten crystal balls, which cycle through views of particular public places throughout the city, and can be made to focus in on a particular individual. When either the sheriff or deputy is off duty, a small group of officers replaces them, although it takes dozens of individuals to be as effective as just Nightwhisper and Stevvik working together. All law enforcement officers have communication stones, which they can use to keep in touch with each other at all times, allowing for coordination over long distances.
The office of Mayor Reshtha was constructed atop the giant stone heart at the center of Heart City. Since the heart sits a top a 100 foot pillar of stone, the only way to get to the mayor’s office it to fly, teleport, or I don’t know, jump really high? And if the party does make it up, they had better have an appointment.
This clothing shop is staffed and owned by three siblings, Gella, Thel, and Felsir. It is the best spot for fashion in the city, and also offers custom clothing and tailoring by request.

Lair It On
Lair It On is an adventuring goods supply store, run by Remmy the gnome. It sells all the gear needed for an excursion into the maze-like tunnels of Torsoland. Though the shop does not carry weapons or magic items, it provides a comprehensive range of useful and practical items.
Hear ye, hear ye. The town square is where people gather for announcements, festivals, and public shamings. If players cause too much trouble, they might get sent to the stockades, where they will be mocked, humiliated, and pelted with old produce. Likewise, there is a chance that some other group of adventurers has earned a shaming. The town square is also host to a number of market stalls, including Cici’s flower shop.
Yeah, there’s books here. The party can come here to do research on the city’s history, or learn new spells, or maybe just borrow a good novel. The head librarian is Shale.
Office of Housing and Zoning
Here, the players can find long-term living accommodations. It would be a good idea for them to go here sooner than later, as sleeping at the Stone’s throw every night might be more than they can afford. At the H&Z, they can find a place easily, and start living on a monthly rate, at whatever standard of living they desire.
On the outskirts of the city to the east, where the buildings grow thinner, and the vegetation grows thicker, there is a waterfall cascading down the stone wall of the cavern. Lit from behind by sky stones, and surrounded by natural forest, it is one of the most scenic locations in the city.
